As soon as you deprive yourself from eating foods that you usually consume, you are already fasting. Before, this abstinence act was just a religious practice from both Christians and Muslims.
However, because of the health benefits that fasting can contribute to anyone who is practicing it, many medical professionals are promoting the advocacy of fasting to their patients, not just for losing weight purposes, but also for detoxification and to achieve optimum health. This is what fasting does for the body.
How to Say “No” to Foods You Usually Eat
Fasting is a sacrifice. It would not be an act of sacrifice if you would not suppress yourself from getting what you want. The good thing about sacrificing is that you are motivated to deprive yourself and suffer for a period of intense hunger for foods because you are aiming to live healthy. Here are things that at least could help you say “no” to any food that you commonly consume.
1) Practice a healthy mindset. Your brain would be the source of major instruction of all the body parts functions. When you have a mindset that you should not eat foods like this and that, your brain would send signals to your senses of taste and feelings of hunger to endure the cravings. It would usually take time before you get used to that intense feeling of cravings, until your system would no longer recognize it.
2) Use alternative foods, the healthy ones, of course. Fasting does not mean that you are not going to take a bite of any food that is served at your table. Saying “no” does not mean “nothing” at all. Having enough and controlled food intake is what fasting is all about.
You should be able to find alternative healthy foods that could be incorporated in your diet so you could still continue fasting, yet you could still maintain a healthy body. By consuming healthier foods, you can be sure that you will no longer crave for more than enough amounts needed by your body.
3) Discipline is the bottom line of everything. It would be easier for you to sacrifice if you are able to discipline yourself in sticking to fasting, which is motivated by your goal.

1) It can provide you more energy. Since you have a controlled intake of healthy foods, you would surely consume those that can give you energy to be able to sustain your fasting goals.
2) Fasting promotes adequate sleep. Since you would be feeling healthier and lighter, there is no way that you could not sleep well.
3) Fasting results to in detoxification that eliminates excess fats; this leads to losing excess weight.
4) It improves the digestion process and making metabolism even faster because there would be lesser of the enough amount of food that intestines would break down and the absorption of the needed nutrients is regulated.
Everything that fasting can contribute to your body defines a very healthy condition. Therefore, your sacrifice would be worth it all because you will be getting the best reward of your life.
